In the southern region of Thailand, there is a vast maritime park teeming with underwater corals and a labyrinth of seascapes, where wonderful, bright, magnificent fish and sea life integrate within the turquoise waters of this amazing underwater world.
Surrounding these waters, as if erupting up from the earth, the ground beneath presses upwards like many pop-its, forming magnificent limestone islands jutting into the tropical air. These limestone islands exhibit vibrant cliff edges with sporadic clusters of evergreens and shrubs, exposed yet snuggled in the cliff rocks.
Within this multitude of small cliff islands, there stands a tiny bold presence, a limestone piece erected from the waters, Ko Tapu, translated as "crab's eye" island, where Ko means island.
This small yet commanding island is also famously known as James Bond Island, a centerpiece in the 1974 James Bond movie, "The Man with the Golden Gun." This small island is 20 meters in height and 8 meters at its upper widest diameter.
These small limestone islands, including Ko Tapu, have been formed through the elements. The presence of waves, currents, and wind, with a bit of shifting of tectonic plates, has created this spectacular landmass, as if projecting a lonesome soul whose craving existence while hanging on to remain upright and erect.
The erosion of Ko Tapu is evident in its grand design; being chipped away, chiseled, and seemingly fettered by the passing of time.
Our mind is also formed through the elements, as it is a progressive result of our attention and awareness. The mind likes to grasp where our attention is directed, and from there, creates our experiences by our thoughts and actions.
Through repeated attention and direction, our mind is shaped into the reality we have brought forward with consistency and repetition. Our real-world life is a tangential experience of how we feed and direct our conscious awareness.
Where our attention goes, our mind follows and molds, and over time creates a personality. This personality comes with our perceptions, feelings, and emotions. The attention and awareness of negative thought patterns, over time, erode our mental spaces, carving hard islands within.
The perceptions and feelings accompanying these thought patterns create cliffs of stone with continual erosion, and at some point, the ocean of our true nature may become cloudy and murky. Choosing how to direct our attention is then vital to a life of creation, joy, and love.
Where we place our attention, and subsequently our awareness, shapes our reality. We inspire and bring our mind's attention towards openness and positive creation, as we have unlimited potential awaiting to expand.
As the Zen Master Shunryi Suzuki says,
"When we inhale, the air comes into the inner world. When we exhale, the air goes out to the outer world. The inner world is limitless, and the outer world is also limitless."
By focusing our thoughts on gratitude, positive creativity, and awakening to each wonderful moment, our mind molds and shifts into a glorious experience of wonder and awe. There does not need to be any erosion, and if perchance erosion has happened, it is completely reversible.
This space becomes our internal inspiration, as if a circle is drawn within, internal inspiration flows into itself, it is an endless loop, ever-expanding as our positive inspiration feeds into itself and more internal inspiration is formed.
This is developed with attention and creation of positive thoughts and experiences in our life. By practicing mindfulness and positive awareness, we build a beautiful space for our inner being to thrive with self-love and joy.
If we repeatedly dwell and bring attention towards negative energy, internal deflation is created and a negative energy loop begins to erode and rob ourselves of our true illuminating presence and our radiant identity and reality.
We become more and more eroded and jagged, unhappy and disillusioned with our precious human life. As if we are swallowing a jagged pill each time we attach or cling to negative energy, subsequently slowly eroding our soft gentle spaces inside.
Creating crafts, practices, and positive internal spaces brings illumination towards our true nature and fortifies our soft and gentle spaces while expanding our world. Positive thoughts and energy shape and design our mind and we become magnificent with a magical presence.
Through this turning inward, we begin to notice our bright corals teeming with wonderful tropical fish in our beautiful waters of awareness. By choosing to direct our attention towards positive awareness, joy and peace are created.
We negate and reverse erosion, thus allowing our internal inspiration loop to turn on and revolve, creating a magical experience of growth and expansion. We experience our lives as a true illuminated human being, swimming and exploring all the corals and fish, in our turquoise ocean of awareness, no chipping needed.
Cheers!
